Dust
Jacket Designs
CONTEXTUALISED

GUIDANCE TO PASS THE ASSIGNMENT:
No
pre-existing artwork can contribute to the finished dust jacket
designs – each must contain all of the listed constituent elements

- Print and wrap the dust jackets you have designed – research how best to photograph the work for inclusion in your portfolio – post the research and resultant images to your blog (presenting tactile objects)
- Place the dust jacket designs in a digital context – iphone and android – ipad2 and kindle - post the resultant images to your blog (presenting digital work)
- Create a Flash slideshow with the images from the preceding tasks to showcase your designs online, or as a standalone digital file
GUIDANCE
FOR ACHIEVEMENT OF CONTEXTUALISED GRADES:
In
order to achieve ‘Identify
and apply strategies to find appropriate solutions’
(M1)
The accompanying roughs/idea generation work must demonstrate that
multiple
solutions
were investigated.
In
order to achieve ‘select/design
and apply appropriate methods/techniques’
(M2)
The portfolio images must be competently
constructed
and attest to a sound understanding of the principles
of design.
In
order to achieve ‘the
appropriate structure and approach has been used’
(M3)
Collect relevant examples from a wide
range of sources
over an extended
period of time
– evidence of research to be posted to accompanying blog.
In
order to achieve ‘Use
critical reflection to evaluate own work and justify valid
conclusions’

Demonstrate that a self-criticism
of approach
has taken place via posts on the accompanying blog. This should
include a
critical evaluation
of the finished series.

A clear progression
from concept to finished artwork
must be observable on the accompanying blog – establishing that the
assignment has been well
planned and managed.
